The Canterbury tales

Last week our students went to the theatre.

They listened to 5 tales.

 

Each tale had a moral: an idea that summarises the whole story and that can be used to become a better person.

Healthy food VS junk food

Primary 1 students are starting a new unit: Food.

During the next 3 weeks, the students are going to learn new words about the food they normally eat. In addition, they will learn how important is to eat healthy food and avoid junk food. Here you can see a picture drawn during the last lesson in which they draw a superhero and a villian.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas is not celebrated the same way in every country. Let's analyze New Year's eve.

New Year's eve is the 31st of December. As the clock strikes 0:00, the entire world gets immersed in celebration.

• In Span, people eat 12 grapes at every toll of the clock during the New Year. Spaniards believe that it will bring good luck and happiness for the coming 12 months.

• In Denmark, people stand on chairs and jump from them at midnight. Some families also break the dishes they have just used during the dinner.

• In Germany, people drop melted lead into cold water to see what shape is generated. The shape may predict the future: heart shapes symbolize marriage, round shapes denote good luck, anchor shapes tell that you need help and a cross signifies someone’s sad demise.

• In Puerto Rico, people throw buckets of water out of their window in order to clean the odds of the last year as well as get the spirits out of the home.
